We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of former Ambassador Sue K. Brown. Her loss is felt profoundly by the Embassy staff, the Montenegrin people, and her friends, family, and colleagues around the world. During her tenure from 2011 to 2015, Ambassador Brown made significant contributions to Montenegro’s military and rule of law reforms, firmly supporting the country on its Euro-Atlantic integration path and laying the groundwork for Montenegro’s accession into NATO.

She played a pivotal role in strengthening the ties between our nations, including the establishment of the American Reading Room in Cetinje and supporting Montenegrin media and civil society.  She cared deeply for the well-being of the citizens of Montenegro, coordinating American assistance to Montenegro following natural disasters.
