The Assistant Secretary for African Affairs joined 10 currently serving African-American Ambassadors representing posts in Africa, South Central Asia, UN organization, Office of Foreign Missions, and the Western Hemisphere for a group photo. The top diplomats were among the Ambassadors gathered in Washington, D.C. for the 2016 Global Chiefs of Mission Conference. The conference provides the opportunity to mobilize and coordinate the work of America’s Ambassadors around the world. As an added bonus on March 14, President Barack Obama delivered engaging remarks during a surprise appearance. The Thursday Luncheon Group (TLG) thanked the Ambassadors for taking the time to assist TLG in empowering current mid and entry-level TLG members, and informing and educating students and mid-career professionals interested in careers in international affairs. TLG salutes our top diplomats in 2016!
